Car Power

There really are no rules here!  You can be as creative or conventional as you like.  You might prefer to match the mode of transport to the type of wedding. This may be a job your husband would enjoy getting involved with and one where you can offer a few suggestions.

There is a vast range of vehicles available, some of which include:

  • Horse driven cart/carriage
  • Vintage car/bus
  • Kitsch cars: White London Taxi
  • Glam cars: Pink Cadillac, limousine
  • Classic cars: Bentley, Jaguar, Rolls Royce
  • Expensive options: Helicopter (Landing pad required and lots of cash!)

Time of year

Will the bride (or you) want to travel to venues in an open car/carriage in a force 10 gale or in freezing temperatures?  Think of the implications this could have on your hat and your hair.  Look for more traditional covered options particularly if you’re opting for a winter wedding.

Horses for courses

If there is a lot of travelling to be done is it fair on the horse.  Will the quaint very ancient car make the ten mile journey to the church on time.

The main car has to transport the bride, dress, veil, bouquet and person giving her away.  You will need another car for the bridesmaids and VIBM (very important bridal mum) and her hat.

The groom and best man will have to arrive at the church somehow.  Perhaps careful planning/timing with cars might save on the number of cars.  Point to consider – if choosing pink Cadillac will the groom and best man want to travel in pink Cadillac on their own?

If you are having separate venues for ceremony and reception consider who will need transporting between venues.  Maybe consider a bus or people sharing lifts, as many may not be intending on driving.  Don’t forget other important people in the party such as the bride’s dad or best man you’ll need them to make a speech at reception.
Vroom, vroom this should be a fun bit.
