Invitations
Once you have decided on a definite date and time for the wedding and had it confirmed by the person officiating at the ceremony and by the proprietor of the venue, it is time to think of the invitations. If the date is at a busy time of the year e.g. Christmas or during the summer holiday period, you might like to send out save the date cards to ensure that your guests do not make previous arrangements.
Invitations should be sent out about two months prior to the wedding. Traditionally they were sent from the bride’s parents in a formal style, but now are increasingly more informal and often from both sets of parents or even the bride and groom depending on how the cost of the wedding is being shared.
They can be personally printed by a stationer or printing company, home-made or bought pre-printed and hand written with your own details.Decide if you want all your stationery e.g. invitations, order of service, place settings, thank you notes etc. to match and if you want them colour co-ordinated to the colour scheme of the wedding.
People always leave it to the last moment to reply, so make sure you include an R.S.V.P. date of at least a month before the date of the wedding and still be prepared to chase a few for a reply! A response card included can sometimes avoid this problem.
